THCA isolate is a highly pure crystalline form of the natural cannabinoid THCA, which occurs naturally in fresh cannabis plants. In its natural form, THCA is present in the plant in significantly higher quantities than THC itself, which is why it is becoming increasingly popular among experienced cannabis processors.

THCA isolate contains no added terpenes or other plant components. Thanks to its high purity, it is an ideal raw material for laboratory, analytical, and technical applications where a precisely defined composition is required.

Detailed information

Product detailed description

1. What is THCA?

THCA (Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is a naturally occurring acidic cannabinoid and the main precursor of Δ9-THC in the cannabis plant. Unlike THC, it does not, in itself, have the typical psychoactive effect, but it is not biologically inactive. Research suggests it may have potential anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, antiemetic and other pharmacological effects. However, most of this evidence comes from laboratory and animal studies, and there is as yet a lack of sufficient high-quality clinical trials to confirm its efficacy and long-term safety in humans. When heated, THCA is converted into psychoactive THC, which fundamentally alters its effects and certain risks.

THCA is an abbreviation for Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, or more precisely, Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinolic acid A.

It is a naturally occurring acidic form of THC that is produced in the cannabis plant. Put simply:

CBGA → THCA → THC

The enzyme THCA synthase converts CBGA into THCA. It is only through the subsequent removal of the carboxyl group – a process known as decarboxylation – that Δ9-THC is formed.

This is absolutely crucial to understanding the whole subject.

THCA is not the same as THC

The molecules are very similar, but THCA contains an additional carboxyl group –COOH. It is precisely this seemingly minor chemical change that fundamentally affects their pharmacological properties.

THCA is a very significant, often dominant, cannabinoid in the fresh plant. During drying, storage and, above all, when heated, it gradually converts to THC.
